Tight Radius Mandrel Bends

Tight Radius Mandrel Bends

To perform a tight radius mandrel bend you need an experienced operator. At Detroit Tube Products we have extensive experience in mandrel bends of all sizes.  In addition, we can provide all types of bends that best suits your business. From exhaust systems to HVAC components, we have done it all.

Tight Radius Bends

Mandrel bends help maintain the oval look of the tube after the bend. Unlike a crush bender, the tube is never crushed. Also, by using a mandrel bend you can achieve better tight radius bends with a smooth noncrushed pipe. Depending on the thickness of the tube and radius, we can perform a perfect bend to your desired results. At Detroit Tube Products, we have the latest bending equipment such as a CNC tube bender to help produce proper bends.

Wrinkle-free bending is always the primary goal of any type of bend. Furthermore, our team can provide high-quality bending results even for tight radius tubes. By preventing wrinkling in the tube gives you the desired results you are looking for.  In addition, mandrels are typically made from an aluminum-bronze alloy or a special chrome-plated tool. This also ensures that the mandrel is of the perfect size and material is very important.  There are three commonly used types:

  1. Standard Open Pitch Mandrel (most commonly used)
  2. Plug Mandrel (tubing with heavier walls)
  3. Thin Wall Mandrel (closed pitch mandrel)
